This year-long redesign would not have happened without two key members of the Web staff: Steve Clancy and Chris Bajgier. They were the technical brawn behind this project and taught me a lot about web design and HTML. It was amazing working with them.
Some of the redesign highlights:
- The project started with a homepage redesign (Since we were switching to a new content management system, the inside pages took some time and the efforts were continued after we left by Ryan Pfister)
- The new homepage design is wider and has consistent navigation. It also has more room for top stories, section headlines, the weather and includes a preview of the day's front page.
- We changed the Web site's name from The Digital Collegian to The Daily Collegian Online.
- We added a number of blogs that originally were hosted on blogger and have since been pulled under the Daily Collegian Online umbrella: Nightlife, Arts, Music, News, Thon, Sports and a blog by the paper's Editor in Chief.
